Elementary Family Guide: “Into the Clouds”

The month of April is focused on the “Attitude of Gratitude” as we explore the book of Psalms together!

Week One

Bottom Line

I choose to praise God with my entire life because He is good!

Bible Story

Psalm 100:1-5

Memory Verse

Psalm 100:1-2

Talk-It-Out

What are some things you’re grateful for? Think about those things as we go into the next section.

ACT-It-Out

Make a joyful noise unto the lord together. Whether that’s singing a song you all love together, using pots and pans around the house to make your own song. Simply make some noise in the house as a way to show God how grateful you are for Him.

PRAY-It-Out

Lord, I choose to praise you with my entire life. No matter how I feel I will worship with gladness because You are good. I will have much to be grateful for  and so I will always praise you. Amen

Week Two

Bottom Line

I choose to praise God with my entire life because He is good!

Bible Story

Psalm 23

Memory Verse

Psalm 100:1-3

Talk-It-Out

Why are shepherds important for sheep? What does this tell us about being grateful towards the Lord?

ACT-It-Out

Come up with hand gestures to help your child remember the memory verse.

PRAY-It-Out

Lord, I trust you to be my shepherd. I trust you to point me in the right direction; protect me from harm; and provide my needs. I trust my life in your hands and I will praise you with my entire life because you are Good to me. Amen

Week Three

Bottom Line

God is my shepherd and our refuge. I am safe in His presence.

Bible Story

Psalm 107:1

Memory Verse

Psalm 100:1-4

Talk-It-Out

We are safe in God like we are safe in this tent. Nothing we do will ever be strong enough to keep us from God. We give God thanks and praise because His mercy – or His willingness to forgive and love us – is new everyday. For this we should be grateful.

ACT-It-Out

Make a tent with whatever things you can find around the house. Encourage your child(ren) to build it until they feel safe in it.

PRAY-It-Out

Lord, I thank you for being my shepherd and my refuge. I know I am safe with you. Your willingness to forgive me and love me always is why I will forever praise and thank you. I am so grateful to be yours. Amen!

Week Four

Bottom Line

God is my shepherd and our refuge. I am safe in His presence.

Bible Story

Psalm 111

Memory Verse

Psalm 100:1-5

Talk-It-Out

Why is it important that we share this verse with the entire family? What did you love about this chapter? What do you have questions about from this verse?

ACT-It-Out

After dinner, have each member of the family read a portion of the bible story to the entire family.

PRAY-It-Out

Lord, I thank you for the Book of Psalms as it teaches me why and how to praise you. This is important because I can show others how to praise you and I can teach others why we ought to praise you. I am grateful because in praise my family, friends, and community will be safe in you. Amen!
